This will be the inaugural appearance for the ASALMS at the Concord, North Carolina speed plant. Concord Motorsport Park is famous as the “World’s Fastest ½ mile Tri-Oval.” In addition to the historic ½ mile Tri-Oval, there is a smaller 1/4 track located behind the big track. The cars that race in the Spring and Fall Series are the INEX Legends and Bandoleros.
The NASCAR Whelen All American Series sanctions regular racing action at Concord during the 2008 season and that includes Late Model Stock Cars, Limited Late Models, Pure Stocks and Fast and Furious Fours.
The historic and uniquely shaped Tri-Oval boasts various degrees of banking beginning with the front stretch, which is at Eight (8) degrees. Turn One is 14 degrees while the Turns 1-2 Short Chute is measured at 10 degrees.
Turn Two is at 11 degrees while the actual back stretch, which is located between Turns 2-3 stays the same at 11 degrees. Finally Turn Three tops out at 14 degrees before the drivers head back down the long front stretch. The Concord Motorsport Park has a seating capacity of 8,000 patrons with an additional 500 seats for V.I.P. guests.
The track was built by Henry Furr. Originally an oval dirt-track, Furr reconfigured the track adding a true dog-leg to the back stretch. The track now has three unique turns. Pit road entrance is located in the tri-oval prior to turn three. In late 1996, the track was purchased by the Laton family of Albemarle, North Carolina.
Track Rental is available as well. The speedway is available for private test and tune sessions, special events and as a location for TV and motion picture production. For more information and to make arrangements, please contact Larry Thomas at the park office at: 1 (704) 782-4221.
Rental Procedures / Half Mile Track / Race Teams/ Private Practice Sessions: Track rental fees are $175.00 per hour per car/driver with a three-hour minimum. Up to three teams with the same type of vehicle may share the same time period for an additional $175.00 per hour per car/driver.
Fire / Medic coverage is provided in accordance with OSHA recommendations (NFPA 610) and is included in the rental fees. All personnel entering the infield area must sign a release. A minor’s release form completed by a parent or legal guardian is required for anyone under the age of 18.
All track rental fees, fuel, tires, etc. must be paid upon arrival for and in advance of the practice session. The emergency services coordinator or his designated representative will provide an agreement form / invoice and collect all fees.
The reserving party is financially responsible for all reserved track time regardless of a breakdown, accident, etc. The only exception is weather and that discount, if any, is determined by the emergency services coordinator. Rental fees do NOT include recovery vehicles.
Track lighting is additional with a $200.00 load management fee (in-season) and lighting charges are $200.00 per hour in addition to track rental fees. Minimum charge for track lighting is $400.00 in-season. The load management fee off-season (November through March) is $1,500.00.
Hours of operation: Sunday 12:00-Noon until 11:00p.m. Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday 8:00 a.m. until 12:00-Midnight. As a good neighbor, the track prefers all private sessions to be concluded by 9:00 p.m.
