Bartow, Florida (07/03/2007): Nobody has ever said that the racing game is an
easy one. When things are going well for a driver and team one week, the next
week things could be headed downhill quickly. Young Travis Wilson knows how
racing goes. He’s been around it his whole life and has seen his fair share of good
days in racing, but also knows what it feels like to not have things go his way
sometimes.

On Saturday night June 23, 2007 Wilson seemed to be having a night to forget in
the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division event at New Smyrna (FL)
Speedway, but he was able to salvage a positive result from it.

Wilson came into the event pumped up for a return to his home state after weeks
of preparation since the series’ last race nearly two months ago. While the 12th-
place finish at New Smyrna is a solid result, especially considering he had to start
deep in 24th, Wilson had a long road to get there.

“It’s been bad all week, and all day,” said Wilson. “We have some problems in the
motor, and it was tight all day, then loose, then tight. We can’t seem to figure this
new car out. We were junk. It’s pretty simple. We took that junk car and finished
decent with it through this crazy night, and even got sent to the rear one time. It
was my fault and I know Tommy King’s mad at me.”

“Then late in the race Jimmy Lang just blocked and blocked and blocked, and
there isn’t anything you can do about that. We were just glad to get a decent finish
out of it.” Even though the race wasn’t all he wanted it to be, Wilson was able to
find a silver lining on the night.

“We barely finished it, but we did finish on the lead lap. Even as bad as we ran, this
should put us back up into the top 10 in points and that’ll help us down the road.”
Wilson will be back in action when the ASALMS Southern Division returns to action
on July 14th at Birmingham International Raceway in Birmingham, Alabama.
