The Crimson 125 is up next as the Birmingham (AL) International Raceway and
Race Number Four in the ASALMS Southern Division awaits in Alabama.Posted
July 9th, 2007

By ASA Late Model Series

Lexington, Michigan (07/09/2007): The ASA Late Model Series Southern Division
Presented by GM Performance Parts has experienced vast amounts of growth in
2007. So far in three events conducted, an average car count of 41 machines
have graced the pit areas in Bronson, Florida; Cordele, Georgia; and Samsula,
Florida.

In 2007, several news facilities adorn the ASALMS Southern Division schedule.
One of those speed plants will graciously serve as hosts for an ASALMS Southern
Division event not once, but twice during the season. One of those events is the
2007 ASALMS Southern Division Season Championships!

The Fourth Race of the 2007 season for the ASALMS Southern Division will
commence at one of the most historic and tradition laden tracks in the entire United
States. The famed Birmingham (AL) International Raceway, located on the
Alabama State Fairgrounds in Birmingham, Alabama will host the ASALMS
Southern Division on Saturday July 14, 2007 in the running of the Crimson 125.

Joining the ASALMS Southern Division will be the BIR Sportsmen, Mini Modifieds,
Street Stocks, Renegades, and Buzz Cars for an action packed Six in One show!
The entry form for the Crimson 125 is now available and due at the ASALMS Home
Offices in Lexington, Michigan by TODAY Monday July 9, 2007 to avoid late fees.

BIR is the only track on the 2007 ASALMS Southern Division schedule that will host
more than one show during the season. On Saturday October 27, 2007, the
ASALMS Southern Division Cars and Stars will decide their 2007 Championship
and Rookie of the Year titles respectively in the ASALMS Southern Division Season
Championships 125 at the fast 0.625 Mile Semi-Banked Paved Oval.

“When we ironed out the agreement to run at Birmingham International Raceway
not once, but twice and we’ve got the 2007 ASALMS Southern Division Season
Championships there to boot, that put such a huge smile on my face.” Stated
ASALMS Co-Founder/President, Ron Varney. “The ASALMS is moving forward and
we’re going to some pretty neat and historical places and BIR is right at the top of
that list with Bristol, Berlin, Milwaukee, Music City, Iowa, and so many more!”
Varney offered.

“We are delighted to have the ASALMS Southern Division coming to Birmingham in
2007. Especially the Season Championships in October!” Added Joey Sims,
General Manager of the Birmingham, Alabama speed plant. “Drivers and Fans are
excited and can’t wait for the first show in July. Our Birmingham Super Series
drivers can’t wait to test their skills with the caliber of competition in the ASALMS
Southern Division will bring to our track.” He added.

“Our drivers feel the track in Birmingham is such a drivers track, and they feel that
they will have a slight advantage over the drivers that are making their first
appearance at the historic oval.” Continued Sims.

“These two races have the makings to be the best races on the entire ASALMS
schedule. Drivers like 2006 Late Model champion Gary Sanford Jr., 2006 Neil
Bonnett Memorial Winner, Hunter Robbins, multi-time feature winner Dennis (Tink)
Reno, and many more BIR regulars are looking to maybe steal a win from the
ASALMS regulars.” Sims ended.

The 2007 season is the tracks’ 93rd continuous year of operation. MTS
Motorsports Management operates the racing facility for the State Fairgrounds,
and 2007 marks a huge year for the facility.

In addition to the ASALMS Southern Divisions’ two big shows, highlighting the 2007
BIR schedule is the Birmingham Super Series which will challenge some of the most
talented drivers in the Southern Region of the United States in an eight race series
that will crown a champion at the much anticipated Magic City 200 on November 9-
10, 2007.

The BSS will match the best Pro Late Model drivers against the best Super Late
Model drivers in an eight race series based at historic BIR. A proficiently designed
point system is set in place to produce some of the closest point racing seen in a
short track series. Each competing driver will be assessed a mulligan in one of the
first seven events, nullifying their worst finish.

Especially important to ASALMS teams is that the Birmingham Super Series has no
conflicts with the ASALMS Southern Division Schedule except for one event. Friday
and Saturday October 5-6, 2007 at the DeSoto (FL) Super Speedway.

So the ASALMS Southern Division teams that plan on running the BSS can still go
to DeSoto, take a mulligan in the BSS, and come back to challenge for the
inaugural BSS Championship! Each driver will have to start the final event of the
season to compete for the inaugural BSS championship.

The officials at BIR have taken the general Super and Pro Late Model rules from
around the region, and combined them with carburetor and weight ratios to make
some very close racing at the 0.625 Mile Semi-Banked Paved Oval. The bodies on
the racers will be the sleek stock appearing A-B-C rule type bodies.

Some of the big shows on the BSS Schedule includes the Neil Bonnett Memorial,
the seventh race of the series is set for October 5-6, 2007 while the Magic City 200
will close out the 2007 Birmingham Super Series on November 9-10, 2007, the
week after the last race of the 2007 season for the entire ASALMS in Nashville,
Tennessee.

Other notables of the 22 events scheduled for the track are appearances made by
the Georgia Asphalt Series, as well as the new All-Star Outlaw Bodied Super Late
Model Series, plus the local stars in the Super Modified, Mini Modified, Street
Stock, Renegade, and Buzz racing divisions.

Fairgrounds at 2321 Bessemer Road in Birmingham, Alabama 35008, the Track is
