Bartow, Florida (07/24/2007): Travis Wilson left Birmingham International Raceway
knowing he had one of the best cars… if not the best car in the field. He qualified
second and started eighth (after the inversion). He had a car that ran right with the
eventual race winner. But his gas tank had other plans.

“We had a darn good car at Birmingham.” Said Wilson, who is the son of former
NASCAR Winston Cup Series regular Rick Wilson. “We were running in fourth with
about 10 to go when we ran out of gas. We came to a stop on the front stretch and
they threw the caution. We got pushed back into the pits and we took some gas,
got fired back up and stayed on the lead lap. We restarted 15th or so and passed
all those cars in just eight laps.” He explained.

“We were just sitting there, biding our time behind Slocumb in fifth towards the end
of the race. He went and I saw that there was grip down at the bottom, so I went
down with him and the thing sputtered.” He added. Wilson had to settle for a eighth-
place finish.

“It was a good run and definitely a good points day for us, but it could’ve been a lot
better.” Added Wilson. “We’re taking that car to the next South race and we’re
taking a brand new car to Bristol for the ASALMS Challenge Division race. I’m
pumped up to have a good run like that, even though we had some bad luck.
Anytime we can have bad luck like running out of gas and still have a good finish
like that is a good day.”

Next, Wilson will be headed to Bristol Motor Speedway on August 4, 2007 for an
ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division event, the Crate American Race 200.
The next race for the ASALMS Southern Division is on Saturday August 11, 2007
at the Orange County (NC) Speedway in Rougemont, North Carolina for the
Orange County 125.
