July 27, 2007 Tri County Motor Speedway – July 28, 2007 Hickory Motor Speedway
Alli flew in Friday afternoon from being in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Women in the
Winner’s Circle luncheon all week. Tri County had Twin 50’s Friday night, so it was
going to a very competitive evening.
Lee Faulk and team took time while Alli was gone and made several changes to the
car. “I was really excited to test the car after having so many things different on it”
Alli said. “We need a little extra to get that edge on the rest of the guys.” Owens
hopped in for practice and found herself with a very fast ElectrifyingCareers.com
Ford Fusion.
Alli has struggled all year with qualifying and has had to start in the back of the
field, but this time she found it in herself and qualified 5th for the first race and 3rd
for the second race. As the green flag flew for race number one, Alli worked hard
to keep her car up in the front. With only 50 laps Alli finished a solid 4th place finish
right behind the leaders.
In the second race Alli was running third , with her bumper right on the second
place car with just laps to go, when an impatient young driver known for causing
accidents took her out. She saved the car from hitting the wall and was able to
return to the line up. Both driver were sent to the rear. Alli was really upset
because she had a top car all night, so instead of letting her emotion cause her to
make a bad decision on the track she brought the car in to the pits.
After a great night at Tri County the night before, Alli was ready for Hickory. She
put the peddle down and landed the outside pole (2nd)! After 2 or 3 cautions Alli
was battling with the leaders the whole race and in a position to make the pass for
second with 4 laps to go when the leaders came up on lap traffic, which left her no
room to pass. She held her position and brought home a strong 3rd place which
took the ELECTRIFYINGCAREERS.COM Ford Fusion to the winners circle. There
was tremendous applause when she got out of the car, because lots of her fans
follow her at both tracks. Alli would like to thank Lee Faulk and team for giving her
a good car all weekend, Electrifyingcareers.com for their support, and her fans for
their show of support.
