Blackman Motor Speedway - Blackman, FL: August 10, 2007 Cook Claims first victory in Stingers at Blackman by Bob Smith
Cody Cook dives it into turn one at Blackman Motor Speedway. Cook claimed his first feature victory at the quick quarter-mile clay speedway tonight. (photo by Bob Smith) Cody cook drove the wheels off of his stinger car tonight, taking the lead from John Jones to lead to the checkered flag. If Cook had a rearview mirror he'd have possibly been up on the wheel a bit more with the image of Tally Warrick closing in with each passing lap. Warrick got close enough to attempt one pass, but it didn't stick as Cook led the field to the checkered flag to take his first win. Jones led the field to the green flag and immediately pulled out into the lead with Robert Garrett filing out in second with Cook third. Cook quickly moved to second and set his sights on Jones. Caution flew quickly for debris and the field lined up with only one lap complete. Jones led Cook to the restart with Warrick in third and Garrett fourth. Bobby Jones ran in fifth. With green waving Jones pulled out in the lead with Cook in tow. Two battles raged on the quick quarter mile clay speedplant as Garrett sought to claim the third position and Cook hunted the lead. Both battles were successful as Cook moved past Jones for the point and Garrett climbed back forward into third. The run for second went three-way as Jones tried in vein to hold the spot from the challenging Garrett and Warrick. Jones bid to remain in the runner-up spot ended with Warrick taking over second and Garrett third as Jones was shuffled back to fourth. With Cook out front Warrick began whittling away at his lead, each lap pulling closer and closer. Warrick was able to make a single attempt to seat himself at the lead, but it was unsuccessful as he trailed Cook to the checkered flag.
Finish: 1. Cody Cook (7c) 2. Tally Warrick (20) 3. Robert Garrett (96) 4. John Jones (X26) 5. Bobby Jones (26)
After taking a trip over the back straight guardrail and ride down the hill last Friday, Adam Ellison put the #1 Street Stock back in victory lane. (photo by Bob Smith) Adam Ellison, after taking a scary trip over the guardrail on the back straight out of turn two last week, dominated the Street Stock feature to add one more win to his impressive list of victories. Ellison took the lead from the outside front row with Steve Kemp pulling to second from his fourth place starting spot and pole sitter Shawn Kemp filing out in third. Kemp's run at second was short lived as he turned it around in turn two and the field went under caution with Ellison now leading S. Kemp with Tim Chopp at third. Ellison held the lead on the restart with the battle for position being four-way for second between Chopp, S. Kemp, Calvin Cook and Jason Messick. Cook moved up into fourth before caution slowed the pace once more as Jerry Simmons goes for a spin in turn four. Ellison continues to lead S. Kemp with Chopp third, Cook fourth and Messick rounding out the front five. Under green Cook and Chopp fought over third with Cook emerging in the position. Messick had his hands full back in fifth from a charging Evan Folmar with Folmar pulling up into the fifth spot. Cook pulled to second over S. Kemp while Chopp and Folmar dueled over fourth with Folmar continuing his march towards the front by claiming the position, and then moving to third over S. Kemp while Messick and Chopp battled for fifth. Caution wave again when Nick Scott spun in turn four, closing the field up once more. Ellison led Cook to the yellow with Folmar third, S. Kemp fourth. Under yellow, Chopp, who had a good run going in the top five all race retired to the pits shuffling Luther Fletcher up to fifth. Under green Ellison and Cook battled for the lead while Messick sparred with Fletcher in an attempt to enter the front five. When green did wave the next time around it was Poole assuming the point with Miley filing in at second and Kevin Peel third. The only caution of the race came when Zach Howard, running the only present vintage car, looped it around in turn two as Poole led Miley to the caution. Under green again Calvin Cook looked unsuccessfully for third from Peel while Miley dueled with Poole for the lead. Peel moved in to challenge Miley for second as Poole ran solid out front. Peel's bid for second was successful as he shuffled Miley back to third. When the checkered flag dropped it was Poole taking the win over Peel with Miley in third.

(photo by Bob Smith) Travis Holloway claimed another Blackman win, leading from flag to flag in the Hogg division. With his power steering not working Billy Arntz could not avoid Folkers and caught him hard head on into turn one. Holloway lead as the field went under red with O'Shields second and McDaniel still holding third. Back under green it continued to be Holloway leading the way. Behind him, Jake Senterfit and Lucas Wasson battled for fourth until Senterfit took a spin in turn four as Holloway led to the caution with McDaniel holding second and O'Shield third. O'Shileds challenged for second as the green came out once more, and moved to the runner-up spot behind Holloway.
