By Matt Prieur-ASA Late Model Series Lexington, Michigan (12/12/2007): A new feature on the cars and stars of the ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts begins today (Wednesday December 12, 2007) and will continue every Wednesday right up to the 2008 ASALMS Challenge Division Season Opener in Hudson, North Carolina on Friday and Saturday March 14-15, 2008.
Welcome to “Meet the ASALMS Drivers”! This feature will highlight the lighter side of our ASALMS teams and our drivers. All in an effort to get to know each and every one of the pilots who will call the ASALMS home for the upcoming 2008 season.
The 2008 Season actually begins with a “Non-Points” race on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday January 24-25-26, 2008 at the USA (FL) International Speedway in Lakeland, Florida as part of SpeedFest 2008. The Crate Late Model Challenge 100 will kick start the 2008 campaign and will be the earliest date ever in the history of the Six-Year-Old series that the season will start.
On all three ASALMS websites, three drivers will be featured. On the ASALMS Challenge Division Website, Two-Time ASALMS Feature Winner in 2007, Jacob Goede will be the first driver highlighted! The New Germany, Minnesota driver picked up Two (2) of the biggest wins of last season when he won ASALMS Features at the Iowa (IA) Speedway and later at the Bristol (TN) Motor Speedway.
On the ASALMS Northern Division website; 2008 Rookie of the Year title contender, 22-year-old Kyle Hayden, who calls Clio, Michigan home is the featured driver. The 2007 Sportsman Track Champion and Rookie of the Year at the Dixie (MI) Motor Speedway, scored One (1) Feature win in his championship season, and will make the transition into the ASALMS for the 2008 season and is widely regarded as a top freshman contender in the North.
Finally on the ASALMS Southern Division website; Another 2008 Rookie of the Year title contender is featured; Clearwater, Florida freshman, Justin Larson. The 19-year-old Sunshine State driver comes to the ASALMS after having spent the 2007 season primarily in the Florida based Goodyear Challenge Series where he finished Fifth in the final points standings with One (1) Feature Win.
