Four drivers remain in the 2007 ASA Late Model Series Most Popular Driver Award voting as Eddie Hoffman takes over the lead! By: Matt Prieur-ASA Late Model Series
8 Eddie Hoffman-Wheaton, Illinois (ASALMS File Photo) Lexington, Michigan (12/17/2007): The ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts Most Popular Driver Award contest is down to the Final Four drivers. Six drivers have now been eliminated as the contest heats up with only Two more drivers yet to be eliminated before the calendar turns over to 2008.
As the enormous amount of votes keep coming, the “American Idol” style voting saw 2007 ASA Late Model Series Southern Division Champion and Rookie of the Year, Jeff Choquette fall by the wayside leaving the coveted Final Four.
There’s also a new leader in the contest as Wheaton, Illinois veteran, Eddie Hoffman has overtook Colt James for the overall lead in the chase for the 2007 ASALMS Most Popular Driver Award. Hoffman received almost 5,000,000 votes this past week from the great fans of the ASALMS.
Those Four (4) drivers remaining in the chase for the 2007 ASALMS Most Popular Driver Award are: 8 Eddie Hoffman-Wheaton, Illinois 015 Colt James- Buda, Texas 41 Brandon Johnson-Longwood, Florida and 88 Trent Snyder- Ironton, Minnesota.
There's still plenty of time to vote! Simply vote for your favorite driver and the driver who receives the most votes from our great fans of the ASALMS will be honored as the 2007 ASALMS Most Popular Driver at the ASALMS Awards Banquet and Weekend of Champions on Saturday January 19, 2008 at the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
The catch is; The driver with the least amount of votes on each Monday of each week leading up to the banquet, will be eliminated from award contention! So don't let your favorite driver be voted off, keep voting as often as you like on the ASALMS Official Forum as well as the Poll Question Sections of the ASALMS North and South websites.
Six are now eliminated. The last “cast off” was 2007 ASALMS Southern Division Champion and Rookie of the Year, Jeff Choquette! The eliminated drivers before Choquette were 2007 ASALMS Northern Division Rookie of the Year, Jesse Saunders and 2007 ASALMS Challenge Division Champion, Travis Dassow.
Before Choquette, Saunders, and Dassow; 2007 ASALMS Northern Division Runner-Up, 19-year-old Nick Neville, Four-Time ASALMS Southern Division Feature Winner, Beau Slocumb and 2007 Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year in the ASALMS Challenge Division, Sean Murphy were previously voted off.
There will be Two (2) drivers left to begin the new calendar (2008) year. From that point forward, the votes will be tabulated right up until the weekend of the banquet and the Winner will be announced at the 2007 ASA Late Model Series Awards Banquet and Weekend of Champions on Saturday January 19, 2008.
