The Stars Racing Series has announced two dates for their Pro Truck and
Young Gun Divisions to race on clay at Ocala Speedway in 2008.  The Stars
Racing Series will appear at Ocala on March 14th and on October 25th,
marking the first time the truck racing series leaves the asphalt and attempts
running on a non paved surface.

When the Stars Racing Series visited Ocala Speedway late in the 2007
season, their fans and drivers made it obvious that they wished to return in
2008.  However Ocala Speedway was in the process of deciding whether
Ocala would be a paved or clay track for 2008, and the Stars drivers and fans
almost jokingly quipped that maybe they should learn to race on dirt.  Virtually
no one took it seriously, except for Ocala Speedway owner Michael Peters and
the Stars drivers, but with two dates on the schedule for 2008 race fans will
soon find out if these types of race trucks can handle racing on clay.

No information has been offered yet as to exactly what sort of adaptations may
be allowed for the truck teams in order to race on dirt, but one might assume
that a switch to a dirt racing tire might be in order, along with some chassis
adjustments.  More information will be forthcoming as the March 14th date
approaches.
