The early entries are starting to come in for the special 100-lap “Non-Points”
race as a slew of ASALMS Southern Division teams headline the early entry
list. But it’s a former winner of the Super Late Models portion of the SpeedFest
weekend that all ASALMS teams will be gunning for in Lakeland, Florida.

Wheaton, Illinois veteran, Eddie Hoffman, the defending race winner of
SpeedFest, has filed an entry for both the ASALMS portion as well as the
Super Late Models segment. The 47-year-old Prairie State veteran tied for the
most Feature Wins of the 2007 season in the ASALMS with Four (4) Victories
and hopes to kick off the 2008 campaign the same way he did in 2007; With a
Feature Win on the 0.750 Mile Progressively Banked Paved Oval.

NASCAR Sprint Cup competitor, David Stremme has also filed an entry for
both portions of the SpeedFest 2008 Weekend! The South Bend, Indiana
driver, currently searching for a ride for the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season,
looks to kick off his 2008 season the right way as well with at least One
Feature Win in the Sunshine State.

Richard Johns, a part-time competitor in the NASCAR Busch Series (Now
NASCAR Nationwide Series) in 2007 and now a contender in the 2008

Two seasons in the ASALMS and did pick up One Win in the GM Performance
Parts Shootout at the Music City (TN) Motorplex on March 31, 2007. Johns’
teammate for the weekend will be ASALMS Southern Division driver, Wes
Burton, who finished 23rd in the final 2007 ASALMS Southern Division Drivers
Points Standings.

Three-Time ARP Bodies/Aluminum Racing Products Fast Qualifier, Chris
Fontaine has also entered the Crate Late Model Challenge 100. The
hometown driver from Lakeland, Florida finished Fifth in the Final 2007

In addition to Fontaine and Partelo and also representing the Sunshine State
includes 14-year-old Drew Brannon, who calls Miami, Florida home and 18-
year-old Patrick Staropoli. Both made select appearances in 2007 and plan on
running for the 2008 Rookie of the Year title in the ASALMS Southern Division.

contender in both the ASALMS Challenge and Southern Divisions in 2008, has
filed an entry as well in preparation for a busy 2008 season for the Brentwood,
Tennessee teenager who will be steering a Total Performance Driver
Development entry.

the ASALMS portion of the weekend is Center Conway, New Hampshire driver,
D.J. Shaw. The 17-year-old son of former NASCAR Grand National East
Division Champion, Dale Shaw, will make his ASALMS debut during SpeedFest
2008 Weekend in Florida.

In the three previous SpeedFests’ held with the popular template bodied Super
Late Models, two of those have been won by ASA Late Model Series
competitors. In January of this past season; Wheaton, Illinois veteran, Eddie
Hoffman started off his 2007 campaign right by taking the checkered flag in
the 200-lap Feature.

In the inaugural event in 2005, Eau Claire, Wisconsin veteran, Charlie Menard
was the winner over a very strong field. Sandwiched between the two veterans’
victories, Florida ace, Mike Fritts took home the victory in the 2006 version of
SpeedFest. This will be the first ever appearance for the ASALMS at the
Lakeland, Florida speed plant.
