Florida Short Track Report Tom Sherrill 1-2-08
The results from the third annual Florida Short Track Report Driver and Rookie Driver of the year are in and have been counted. With a list of sponsors as : American Drilling and Pump, Beck’s Heating and air conditioning, Racecar Engineering, CBS Roofing, Dale Reigle of Schwab Ready-Mix Concrete, Panhandleracing.com, Jason Lowe, Razpewton, Copynac.com, TBSN Radio 510,com and The Florida Short Track Report.com The voting went from November 22nd through December 31st 2007.
The Driver of the year contest saw Southern Raceway’s Allan Colley take top honors in the contest with 5,469 votes. Allan had strong competition all the way from the 2007 ASCS Rebel Region Champion TJ Winegardner who finished with 5,224 votes. Finishing with a strong third place finish was Mini Cup driver eleven year old Daniel Miller. Auburndale Speedway’s street stock Champion Dustin Breeden made his way to a strong fourth place finish. Rounding out the top five was open wheel modified racer Robbie Cooper who won championships at Ocala Speedway and Gulf Coast Modified’s in 2007.
In the Rookie Driver of the year contest someone used some of the young drivers in their attempt to disturb the contest. This very sad attempt is the latest in a long going attack by a compaction of the Florida Short Track Report. It is a shame that anyone would want to disturb a contest that is in full support of the drivers.
The top 5 Rookie Driver in votes will now go to a DASH FOR THE CASH vote off. The voting will be held in the Florida Short Track Report Forum starting this Monday night live during the radio show and end the following Monday night live during the radio show. The Florida Short Track Report radio show can be heard live on Monday nights 7pm till 9pm eastern time by clicking the listen live link on the Florida Short Track Report.com or on TBSN Radio510. com. The drivers in the DASH will be Shane Burrows, Kyle Bryant, Ross Chastain, James Crawford Jr. and Ashlee Williamson. To vote you will need to register in the Florida Short Track Report Forum/message board. Once you have registered you will be able to vote for you favorite Rookie Driver there. Then on Monday the 14th we will announce the winner live on the radio show.
We apologize for any confusion that this has caused but the attack on the contest was from a outside source. The Florida Short Track Report Driver and Rookie Driver of the year contests are for and about the Drivers which we support all year long. The contest will be bigger and better in 2008 as we will be using a new voting system next year.
