By Shawn Stewart-SS/Green Light Racing Mooresville, North Carolina (01/23/2008): Ryan Lawler has officially joined the SS-Green Light Racing team for Seven (7) races in the 2008 season. The 19- year old up-and-coming driver has been proving his talent from the southeast to the southwest.
Lawler has raced in the several late model stock car series including the NASCAR Southeast Series, PASS Super Late Models, and ASA Late Model Series. He earned two victories in his rookie year of the ASA Late Model Series in 2006 and won a PASS race at the historic and challenging Hickory Motor Speedway.
In 2007, Lawler won the 2007 PASS South Series Championship with Two (2) Feature Wins, one of those was his second straight triumph in two season at Hickory. His other PASS win came in Anderson, South Carolina. He also won the prestigious Winchester 400 at the Winchester (IN) Speedway in Winchester, Indiana in a CRA Super Series event.
Lawler will debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this year for SS/Green Light Racing, but it’s not the first time to the series for the Lawler family. His father (Patrick Lawler) raced in various truck series events from 2000-2003.
Ryan Lawler first began racing in Bandagers, where he was the Texas State Champion in 1999 and finished second in overall INEX Bandager National Points. He followed that up with three more state championships in the Legends Semi-Pro and Pro Divisions, along with several track championships as well.
At the end of 2006, Lawler ventured across the country to the Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway in California, where he made a big splash in the NASCAR ranks. He brought attention with his impressive victory in a segment of the All-Star Showdown that was televised live and worldwide on SPEED.
“Ryan is going to be a good match for our team,” said SS-Green Light Racing co-owner Ken Smith. “He brings a maturity on the track beyond his years and he understands the importance of representing a team outside the race car. We’re excited to develop him on and off the track and equally excited for him and his family that he’s making a debut in the truck series.”
