  Racers Ready To Get Dirty!

Ever since the dirt hit the pavement at Ocala Speedway there has been a
steady stream of dirt track racers dropping by the famed speedway to check
on the progress of the work and see for themselves that Ocala Speedway
really is a dirt track again.  And the first question from virtually all of those
drivers is when can they turn laps on the newest dirt track in Florida?  From
the beginning Ocala Speedway owner Michael Peters has said that no one
would get an early opportunity to get on the track, but the chance for everyone
to try out the clay has finally arrived.

The first open practice on the new racing surface will take place this Saturday,
January 26th.  The pit gate will open at 2PM with a drivers meeting scheduled
at 5PM.  After the drivers meeting concludes the track will open for practice by
division and will remain open until 10PM.  This practice session is open to all
cars that meet safety requirements and not limited to cars that will be running
under Ocala Speedway rules in 2008.  Ocala Speedway personal and tech
officials will be on hand to conduct safety certifications and answer questions,
and it is advised that racers arrive early to avoid lines getting signed in and
getting safety checks.

Admission for spectators and racers is $10 per person with kids under 12
years of age admitted free.  Spectators are welcome but will be restricted to
the pit stands and the turn 1 bleachers because the work on the frontstretch
wall is not yet complete.  Due to safety concerns before the wall is raised to full
height the grandstand will not be open.

An added bonus for racers and spectators alike is free food from the pit area
concession stand.  There will be free hamburgers and french fries for as long
as they last, and drivers and fans are encouraged to take the time to meet and
greet each other, as well as introduce themselves to the staff at Ocala
Speedway.

Crews began prepping the track early this week and that work continues daily.
This is the first of only two opportunities for drivers to try out the new track
surface.  The second practice session is scheduled for Saturday, February
16th.  The oldest race track in Florida is now the newest and most exciting dirt
track!  Join us on Saturday the 26th and see what all of the excitement is
about!
