Auburndale Speedway held their first annual Speed Fest Spectacular for the
winter race fans this weekend. The stands were full of race fans who are ready
for the racing season to begin and for Auburndale Speedway that will be
February 23rd. The race track has new owners and it shows! With the staff all
knowing their jobs and doing a great job at them. The cleanliness is one of the
first things you will notice right after you see a smile on everyone’s face. With a
quality announcing staff it is all the better for the fans.

Saturday nights racing was a hit with the fans as the Scramblers took the track
first. This class is always fun to watch and Saturday night saw Bobby Kelley Jr.
take the feature win with Mike Kehoe taking second and Dave Canfield
finishing third. Mike Kehoe won the heat race.

The V-8 Bombers were there and put on a clean race after a heat race that
saw lots of rubbing! The feature was won by Josh Hermann followed by Jason
Miller and Junior Collins. The heat was won by Jason Hermann.

The Sars Truck series and Young Gun were there to race and the Young
Guns Austin Stamper got the job done with the feature win. Richard“ koot”
Sapp picked up second and Tim Sozio was third and Austin Stamper also won
the heat. The Stars had late model legend Jeff Scofield join them but a flat
right front tire ended Scofield’s night early as he was the leader. This opened
the door for Keith Lilley to score the win. Michael Smith finished in second
followed by Mario Romay. Jeff Scofield did win the heat race.

The Sportsman race was a driving clinic put on by Wayne Morris. Aaron
Williamson came out with a new paint scheme that really looks great and he
finished in second with L.J. Grimm taking third. Wayne Morris also won the
heat.

Street Stocks saw a show that was all “ like father like son “ as Brandon Morris
put on his own driving show by winning the heat and the feature it’s just a
matter of time before he beats Dad! Finishing second in the feature was
Robert Capps with Larry Chumney II taking his car to third.

The Modified Minis put on a great race with Jason Rendell taking the
checkered flag as Scott Sharpe had to settled for second and Jamie Kennedy
making the top three. The heat race went to Josh Rendell for a solid night of
racing.

Mini Cups were there as Joel Ashton took the opening heat race. The feature
race was a win for Frank Pfisher in his # 2 car. Frank was followed to the line
by Cindarae Irish and James Irish AKA “ Grandpa “ finished third.

The Mini Stocks heat race was won by Tony Davidson who also won the
feature followed by Chris Spring and Donnie Guy and Robert Bryant Jr. was
fourth as they crossed the finish line. Then they went to tech and the top four
cars were found to be illegal which gave the feature win to Jared Guy with
second going to Ashlee Williamson and Lynda Valdez got third. This shows
that at Auburndale Speedway the rules are the rules for everyone.
